Episode 1 - Meetings

Page 1
Cerena prepares to leave Mirial after failing to find an apprentice. Carr has hidden in her cargo hold, believing that the ship belongs to the Jedi who has been asking questions. Cerena discovers him.

Page 2
Carr figures out that Cerena is the Jedi he's been looking for. He asks her to be his teacher, and Cerena agrees.

Page 3
Cerena runs Carr through a training exercise to explore his sensitivity to the Force.

Page 4
Two years later, Cerena and Carr land on Rudrig. Their ship's engines need looking at. Cerena visits Erdric's repair shop and meets Josh.

Page 5
Cerena brings the Sleuth to Erdric's repair shop. She and Josh decide that it would be best to replace the engines. Josh gives her a quote.

Page 6
After trying to haggle, Cerena agrees to Josh's quote. She goes to the hotel to meet Carr, who brings up the idea of taking on bounty missions.

Page 7
Carr argues that bounties would earn them money faster. Cerena says they'll get normal jobs. Three days later, Josh contacts Cerena to let her know the engines have arrived.

Page 8
Cerena says she'll come in on the following day, and asks if she can observe the mechanics as they work. Josh agrees. Cerena returns home, where Carr has returned from his job at the university. He mentions a conspiratorial atmosphere there.

Page 9
They discuss the Rebel Alliance, specifically whether Cerena ever tried to contact them. Cerena recalls the betrayal in which she was scarred. She tells Carr they have to be careful who they trust. The next morning, she goes to the repair shop.

Page 10
Josh and Erdric start their work. Cerena learns that Josh isn't from Rudrig. They talk about the Empire and the possibility of Rebels being on Rudrig.

Meetings (continued)

Page 11
Josh starts to wonder about Cerena, who says she's wandering the galaxy, observing. They discuss the Empire and the Jedi. Josh lets slip that his parents used to do deliveries for the Rebels.

Page 12
They discuss the usefulness of astromech droids. Cerena learns about Josh's past - how he lost his parents and their family freighter. She offers to help him find them.

Page 13
A shielding plate nearly falls on Erdric, but Josh saves him just in time. Cerena is surprised and starts to suspect that he's Force-sensitive. Erdric offers to throw in some free maintenance as part of the job. Cerena and Josh go into town for lunch.

Page 14
Cerena asks more about Josh's parents, trying to find out if they were Force-sensitive. Josh describes his nomadic childhood. Cerena explains what the Jedi believe about the Force. She also tells Josh about the Empire's persecution of the Jedi. Josh is impressed by Cerena's knowledge of what's going on in the galaxy.

Page 15
They return to the shop. Josh is a little concerned that if there are rebels at the university, the Empire might come to investigate. Cerena returns to the apartment and tells Carr about Josh.

Meetings (continued)

Page 16
Carr asks what Cerena expects to find on Brigia, five years after the freighter vanished, and questions the usefulness of helping Josh. Cerena says that Jedi help individuals primarily, not entire societies. The next day, Josh is feeling gloomy about going back to his old boring lifestyle. Cerena returns to the repair shop after her shift, to pick up the Sleuth.

Page 17
Josh and Cerena discuss Josh’s father. Cerena reflects that both she and Josh have lost their homes. She invites him to dinner. They settle the bill, and Cerena heads home to prepare dinner. Josh shows up that evening.

Page 18
Worried that Cerena has become interested in Josh, Carr doesn’t join them immediately. Cerena and Josh talk about Josh’s Z-95. Carr enters and greets Josh, still acting somewhat distant. They sit. Cerena tells Josh that she’s been teaching Carr to pilot the Sleuth.

Page 19
Cerena asks Carr if he discovered anything about Rebel connections on Brigia, surprising him. Having no reason to trust Josh, he remains tight-lipped. Cerena gets up and starts cooking. They briefly discuss Mirialans before Carr brings up Josh’s reflexes. Josh mentions that he had a similar feeling just before his parents’ freighter was attacked. Carr pursues the topic, wanting to settle the question of whether or not Josh is Force-sensitive.

Page 20
Cerena changes the topic of conversation. They talk about the university and Josh’s career options upon arriving on Rudrig. Josh says he thought about joining the Rebellion, and that he would still like to do something meaningful with his life. He asks what Cerena and Carr are looking for. Cerena says she’s looking for safety. They sit down to dinner. Carr decides to test Josh’s reflexes by tipping a cup off the table. Josh catches it, and Cerena sends Carr an unspoken reprimand through the Force.

Meetings (continued)

Page 21
They discuss Darth Vader, and the possibility that he is influencing the Emperor. Cerena tells Josh that they think Vader is a Sith lord, and explains to him what the Sith are. Josh believes that the galaxy is in trouble then. He asks if there might be more Sith, and Cerena admits that she doesn’t know.

Page 22
They discuss the fact that both the Sith and the Empire need to be overthrown for the galaxy to be free. Josh wonders whether he should be doing more to help the cause. They finish dinner. Carr asks Cerena when she is going to test Josh, but she deflects the question. Carr concludes that Cerena isn’t going to ask Josh tonight to join them as another apprentice.

Page 23
They discuss destiny. Cerena and Carr have different perspectives on whether their future paths will involve violence. Cerena prepares hot drinks, and asks Josh if he’d like to come along when she and Carr go looking for Josh’s family freighter. Josh considers the changes that would cause to his lifestyle. Carr bids the other two good night, and goes to his room.

Page 24
Carr does some research work in his room. Josh asks Cerena why evil exists, and she explains that she believes there’s a larger balance at work. Josh refuses to believe that people can’t change things themselves, though. Cerena agrees, but thinks that they can’t force the timing. Things happen for a reason. She says that she’s tired of running and being alone, with no-one to trust. She asks if he trusts her.

Page 25
Josh says that he does trust Cerena. She uses her senses to determine whether he’s Force-sensitive or not, and Josh senses what she’s doing. They leave the apartment, heading for Josh’s home. She asks him what he would do if he had the power to change things but had to hide it. He says that he would hide it until he felt that he was ready to make a difference – by joining the Rebellion, for example.

Meetings (continued)

Page 26
Cerena tells Josh her real name, and the fact that she is a Jedi. Josh is surprised. She explains her search for potential Jedi apprentices, tells him that he is strong in the Force, and offers to train him as a Jedi. Cerena tells him he doesn’t have to make his decision straight away. He thanks her for the opportunity, whatever he eventually decides. Cerena returns to the apartment, where she tells Carr of her offer to Josh.

Page 27
Carr wants the Jedi to rise again but doesn’t feel like he’s one of them yet. Cerena assures him that, as her apprentice, he is.

For more than a week, Josh debates with himself whether or not to accept Cerena’s offer. He knows it would be a dangerous life, but at the same time it might be the opportunity he’s been waiting for. He contacts Cerena and she invites him to the apartment to talk.

Page 28
Josh arrives, and Cerena suggests they talk in her room in case Carr arrives in the middle of their conversation. Work has been quiet for both of them, something that has informed Josh’s decision to accept Cerena’s offer to become her apprentice. Cerena is glad, and promises to do her best in training him.

Episode 2 - Training

Page 1
Cerena begins teaching Josh and Carr. Carr excels at the physical skills, but keeps comparing himself unfavourably to Josh in other areas. Josh tries to overcome his natural distrust, but can’t let go of his feelings about his parents’ death. He works on his piloting skills with Cerena.

They discuss how Jedi used to choose their padawans.

About five or six months (?) into Josh’s training, the two apprentices have a practice duel using stun rods. Cerena observes, noting the strengths and weaknesses of each combatant.

Page 2
Carr strikes a vicious blow against Josh, who pushes through the pain to continue. Cerena is starting to feel the urge to practise her combat skills again as well. The fight continues. Cerena realises that they aren’t advanced enough for this yet; their skills are still unhoned. As Carr gains the advantage again, she calls a halt to the battle and asks them what they think they’ve learned. Josh says that he will do whatever it takes in order to improve.

Page 3
Cerena continues her apprentices’ training, focusing on their weaknesses. Carr continues honing his combat skills on his own. Carr asks Cerena about lightsabers, and she shows her lightsaber to him. Josh’s combat skills improve as a result of his training, but he is troubled by Cerena’s statement that a Jedi needs to be at peace with him- or herself. He asks her for advice in this regard.

Page 4
Cerena realises that it may help Josh if he revisits the moment of the attack on his parents’ freighter. She begins to teach him the Jedi technique for recalling distant memories. After a couple of months, Josh is ready to make an attempt. He returns to the cargo bay of the Stardrifter, remembering his feelings of unease at the time, and relives the attack on the freighter by an unknown ship. Cerena brings him back to the present.

Page 5
Cerena tells Josh that he can harness his emotions over his parents’ death by turning them into determination to uphold justice in the galaxy, and Josh agrees, feeling a surge of anger nevertheless. They attempt to identify the model of starfighter that attacked the Stardrifter, but are unable to find a match. Josh remembers the name ‘SD-Striker’ on the side of the unknown fighter. They realise that they’ll have to go to Brigia to pursue the investigation further.
