Yes, but we've yet to reach the dizzying post counts of the five word stories. =)

Good set, Ifrit. I was hoping (and kinda anticipating) that you would approach the set from Ifrit and Hitomi's perspective =)
Too bad you left off where I left off as well, because I'm really curious how Ifrit would have reacted

After trying everything from silent anger to a hastily whispered threat from Ifrit that he'd make sure to embarrass Arch next time they saw Lun Lun, nothing really seemed to flow right. Besides, your set kind of gave mine an ending...

Good call on Kana picking up that Darkling might be jealous of Ifrit and Hitomi, Arch. =)

LOL, and it was fun when Arch broke in and admitted to being jealous up front.

LOL, I wanted to hear what Kana was going to say about Arch's 'nice rack' comment!

Aww, they're so cute! (I know I've said it before, but it's true!)

I don't understand the bit about finding the rival store's name via their website. The name was written on the front window.

You mean Ifrit wouldn't take it as a compliment when someone else says his girlfriend has a nice rack? ;)

Sorry, guys, but it'll be another day or three before I can think about writing a set. I'm teaching a word processing class tonight, and I just got my hard drive back (warranty replacement) so I need to reinstall Windows on that computer. And then the new computer I've ordered will be coming in next week. I'm going to have Windows progress bars in my dreams at this rate.

Oh, speaking of which, last night I dreamed that I was visiting Japan with my family. There weren't any cute Japanese girls in the dream, though. Bummer.

Ah, Dark. Without you, our continuity would be just a little more f'ed up :D

I fixed it to say that Ifrit just discovered they have a website. Actually, IIRC, it was Hitomi who read the kanji that made up 'Custard Flingers', right? By this point, you should have realized it's been a while since I've read through past sets, and I didn't bother checking while writing this, so I'm kind of guessing.

I really thought about that. I even had a whole, 'I'm glad you enjoy looking, 'cause I'm the only one who gets to touch' speech idea, but Ifrit's also a fairly jealous guy, so he gets a bit...passionate when anyone else mentions his girl's assets. I'm sure when he calms down he'll realize how much of a compliment Arch's comment really was.

I totally agree. Bummer. Kind of reminds me of an idea for a VN I had about a gaijin transfer student attending a Japanese high school. Just need an artist and a crash course in Japanese culture...NOW OFF TO YOUTUBE TO WATCH EPISODES OF LUCKY STAR!!!

Probably something berating. I think it's funny to see Kana acting 'sisterly' even in our FTI. However, because 'our' Kana is more mature than KLS Kana, she acts more like a big sister. Kana, Big Sister =) lol

100 sets, and we still learn new things about each other's characters! That's a good thing imo =)

The 'nice rack' comment is basically a 'thinking out loud' thing. I wrote it because in real life there have been a few situations when I almost blurted out something that I wasn't supposed to say (it usually happens when I'm in deep thought), and I thought it would be funny to play this out to see what would happen if I actually did. What better way to practice than a fictional situation

You should try to train yourself to become lucid during your dreams!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dream

I've only had lucid dreams once or twice in my entire life... which is a shame, because it sounds pretty sweet, taking control of your own dreams and all =)

Speaking of dreams: last night I dreamt about this girl that I like... For some reason I dreamt she came over to my place, then after a while she became all shy and silent and she confessed that she liked me too...

Yeah, waking up SUCKS! -_-

It's not really that new. I forgot what set it was, but I wrote Ifrit ranting about how the business is at the store, and the short skirts the girls wear with their uniform came up. Ifrit then sulked, saying something about how he should be the only one who gets to look at Hitomi in a short skirt, or something to that effect. It was a while ago, so I'm not surprised if anyone forgot.

That's funny, because all the dreams I can remember having always end up being High Octane Nightmare Fuel. Tentacles, anyone?

Yeah, a friend of mine used to be big on the idea of lucid dreams. He had a hypnosis tape and everything to train himself to dream lucidly. I don't know if that ever worked out for him.

I'm often aware that I'm dreaming, but I've never really tried to take control of my dreams and do what I wanted.

Last night I dreamed that I ran into my first girlfriend and she was listing all the games that she wanted to play on my Wii. Weird. I think it was because I ran into an old university friend last night who I haven't seen in 12 years or so. They were both from that particular era in my life.

Yeah, I hate it when those really cool, wish-fulfilling dreams come to an end and I realise it was just a dream. Life seems to make sense and be going the right way for a brief while...

I remember that, now that you mention it, but I didn't connect it to the idea that Ifrit would be openly jealous, so I've learned something about Ifrit as well. =)

There's no such thing as too many H-games. As Tucker Max once said: "The only dangerous amount is none!". Of course, this was referring to alcohol and he was in a totally drunken stupor when he said it, so...

Plus, I don't think there's any English released games that include tentacles, but I could be wrong, and even if there is, I'm not really into that genre anyway.

Well, the thing is: lately I've been getting dreams like that more and more often. To make things worse: I used to dream about one girl every now and then, but lately I dream about other girls as well, and I know all of them in real life. It's starting to drive me insane...

Maybe it's nature's way of telling me to get a girlfriend or something, who knows.

(which in turn makes me wonder what nature is trying to tell Ifrit...)

My point exactly ;)

Except if the game includes/revolves around/references to Cthulhu, perhaps? =P

That he's not taking full advantage of all of his bodily orifices?

Hmm, if I recall correctly, there are a few PC adventure games that revolve around the Cthulhu mythos. There was a recent one called 'Dark Corners of the Earth'. I don't know if there were any tentacles in it, though.

The only English bishoujo game I've encounted with tentacles in it is Pretty Soldier Wars, which was a very brief and shallow experience by DO with beautiful artwork.

Sorry, guys, it's going to be a while before I can post another set. Feel free to go ahead without me for the time being.

I'm quite possibly the most jaded person on the entire planet, and even I found this comment a little disturbing...

...will there be lube? :D

Wait a moment...'DO' and 'brief and shallow' do not, I repeat, DO NOT MIX! It must be a lie!

...However, I do remember seeing some images from the game in question. I think the robotic tentacles heavily influenced my decision not to get the game.

It wasn't a visual novel game, for starters - it was a tactical, turn-based combat simulation. You choose which of the girls you want in your squad for each mission, and the more kills they get, the further your 'relationship' with them can advance. Unfortunately, the relationship usually only amounts to a few conversations and a single ero scene (with only one or two CGs, if I remember correctly).

The tentacle scenes involved 'victims' you come across during the missions. (That's how the aliens reproduce.) The girls in your squad are never in any danger of tentacle sex.

1) I never mentioned it was a VN, just that I saw images from it...

Darkling wrote:

2) Two games I've played, Fire Emblem and Battle Moon Wars [heavily based on Super Robot Wars], are both under the "tactical, turn-based combat simulation." genre, A.K.A the strategy RPG, and they are both considered games as well, since 'simulation' and 'game' are practically interchangeable given the situation.

Darkling wrote:

Of course the aliens have to resort to tentacle rape to reproduce. So, not only are there tentacles in the game, but there's also an impregnation fetish to deal with.

D.O., between this and FP, you've lost my trust...

Sorry, I should have been clearer. Judicious use of quotes would have helped.

I meant that Pretty Soldier Wars is probably brief and shallow (in terms of character development) because it's a simulation rather than a visual novel. I didn't think you thought it was a visual novel.

As for why I chose to put 'game' after 'visual novel'... well, I have no idea why I did that, other than to clarify a point that seemed to end up being more muddied by the extra word. I didn't mean to imply that I don't think that simulations are games. Of course PSW is a game.

I think D.O. just happened to release a couple of really good games (ie KLS and Crescendo), but games are only as good as the staff members who worked on them - and then there's the fact that Crescendo's writer also did Amorous Professor Cherry, right? I don't think any particular person or company can be relied on to do good work with every single title they release.
